The compressor on my K2 is building the head pressure so high it is locking up and slipping the clutch. Let it set awhile and equalize and it will turn free. Everything was replace new in the system 3 years ago. I am thinking that it has something to do with the expansion valve but would appreciate some other advice. Thanks in advance. Scott

WHAT ARE THE PRESSURES, Probably should be about 80-90 static - 225 high and 15 low. If the low goes vacuum and the high hits the hp relief pressure shut off valve - the expansion valve is stuck shut. IF the low is 30-40 and the high is 300 plus the system is over charged. High head pressure is also caused by a clogged condenser core or fan motors not working.

Got good air flow through the condenser?
If not that will drive your system pressure up to the trip out or belt slipping point real easy. A plugged expansion valve or valve screen may do it but usually unless you have the system over filled there is not enough refrigerant in the low side to push the high side up that far. You will simply start to pull a vacuum on the low side which takes the load off the compressor and the system just stops cooling at all.
