Just got a 1970 190xt, plan on changing all fluids did oil today.
I am wanting to move the wheels in on the axle a couple inches to clear the fenders on my trailer. The manual states to loosen the three bolts on wheel bushing, then install 3/4 inch jack screws until wheel is loose. Can someone explain the jack screws to me. Also the brakes seem to be about gone, looks like the adjustment bolt is maxed out, if that tells anything. Thanks guys |

I see you got a manual for it to get yourself familiarized with the beast... That is a good start.
Next there is adjusting bolts on the brake levers down by the drum housings, you may still have adjustment there yet. ...and as for the jack bolts for the hubs, they are special harden bolts, Not cheap. ![]() 5/8 grade 8 normal thread. Looked at a different thread and a fellow there said ..."Have had no luck trying to find a set to buy. I borrowed a set from a neighbor with a 200 to pull the wheels off my 7000. His measured 3/4 course thread to screw into taper flange with area turned down smaller than the 5/8 wheel thread. Was going to make some out of grade 8 bolts, not sure if that is hard enough though. Mine were stuck really tight. " Hope this helps, good luck. |

Go to Fastenal and probably have to order a grade 12 if you think they need to be that hard. They'll have to turned down on a grinder.

I was changing all fluids today and when cleaning sediment bowl one was full of sludge dumped it out and clean fuel came out of the tank. I. Am curious if I should worry about sludge getting in injectors. I changed the secondary filter as well. All other filters were changed also as well as oil, power director, and transmission fluids.
Thanks |

Sludge probably won't get to the injectors seeing that it has to go past the sediment bowls and main filter. BUT there is probably more sludge and crud in the bottom of that fuel tank. I would drain that tank and give it a good flushing out. That sludge is good at blocking the fuel outlets and causing fuel restrictions downstream. Be sure to take out the sediment bowl assemblies too.
