I was in the Ohio National Guard and used to have to qualify by I went to driving semi and got drafted into the army for 2 years and can't say I ever had to qualify the whole 2 years they sent me to Fort Hood in Georgia for 6 month and then to Columbus Ohio into the induction station and I never fired anything that I remember in the whole 2 years of active service, as a mdeic I was never asinged to a company at Fort Hood used to take a ambulance and follow engineering compana out itno the field and watch them blow trees off with C 4 but that was all.

Tom, the last time I was at Ft. Hood it was in Texas. Ft. Benning, Ft. Stewart (Camp Swampy), Ft. Gordon, and Ft. Gillem are in Georgia.

Your right it was Ft. Stewart and the swamps, Ft. Hood was were the National Guard sent me for medical training in January of 1966 and it snowed over night. The barricks was a mess the next morning cause the guys from Texas that were there had never seen snow and had their snowball fight inside
