We originally had our phone service through AT&T and got a pretty good soaking from them because of the charges. Had to pay an extra $25/mo for long distance. Long distance is calling across the road. Seriously. I think it was $110/mo. Then came time for computers and internet. Dialup was all we could get here and we had to deal with it. 10yrs or so.

Had antennae TV and it was ok but I remember something changed and it became obsolete or some crap. I know you can still get it, I don't remember, but ours got hit by lightning and blew it apart and melted the ground cable. Nearly every electronic anything got trashed including the PC because it was dialup and came in on the phone line.

Ditched that chit and got DirecTV and had to stick with dialup till we got Hughesnet. All there is other than another satellite internet, same chit different name. Then Hughesnet offered VoIP a lot cheaper phone. 15 gig cap on data for internet. Ditched AT&T. Internet and phone really sucks but...they have you by the short hairs so what do you do. Had 3 different companies out here to check on this line-of-sight crap to different towers. All of them got on the roof with their handheld gizmo and said you have absolutely no signal.
Cell phone service is nearly Nill in the house. Can text no problem.

I'm really thinking terrorist act here to somebody then I heard about Firewifi. Called them yesterday and can guarantee service with no external antennae. 300 gig cap, no contract, same price as Hughesnet no phone. Supposed to work in chitty weather. We will see.

Then there is Community Phone service I got in the mail that has been sitting on my desk for couple of months. Called them. Heck yeah we have you covered they says.
$50/mo and can call all over God's creation with a smile on your face. OK I say's, lets do this.
We will see.

$25 a month more for too good to be true BS for just something reliable, I don't know if that exists anymore.
If it does it will be my day to shine when I can tell those I can't understand ass wipes at customer service at Hughsnet to shove that crappy dish and modem, up and so far that it will have an after taste.
It will be a glorious day!!
It was with AT&T.

is if it doesn't show.

Take a look at StarLink, I have a friend who has it for his shop, then packs up the transceiver, and takes it to his cabin, he's been happy with it.

I live west of Wichita and there is a company called Ideatek that is putting in cables "all over the countryside" so if is reaches to your part of the neighborhood could be a good option.  I think they got some kind of a govt. grant to bring internet out to the sticks.

govt. grant paid for fiber optic to all the homes in our neck of the woods. Internet over that is extremely fast.  We use it for netflix, prime, hulu and many free TV channel services.  Verizon is ok, better than the others at our stick n bricks, we tried.  Had Directv for a few years but told them to take a hike and not come back.  Programs got worse and worse and cost kept going up.  We find no reason to ever have pay tv again. We have 9 over the air local channels that come in clear.  Everything but over the air is connected to our ROKU stick, makes it very easy to find/watch what we want/any time.

I got the same problem here in so. va.  Our place is located in a creek bottom, can't even try to use cell phone! Thinking about trying that starlink when our over priced Direct tv, & Hughsnet finally run out. Also pay bout $80.00 a month for a hardline phone service, wouldn't want to miss those 10 tele-marketers everyday!!!Wacko

My daughter has Starlink (the Canadian version) and they really like it. She told me that the equipment was pricey (IIRC around $1000 Canadian) and I believe she told me monthly fee is about $100 (also Canadian), but it was the only way they could get true high speed internet.

Like satellite TV, you have to have a clear line of sight and there is aiming involved.

I also first had dial-up here as that was all that was available. Then Verizon offered a home hotspot. That was worlds ahead of the dial-up, so I was happy with it. Problem was I kept going up against the data cap and a higher cap was more $$$, so I raised the data cap 3 times. Then last fall got a letter that Verizon was going to 5G and my 3G hotspot would no longer be serviceable. OK I thought we had to replace our cell phones a couple years ago because ours were going to be obsolete, no big deal. The catch was that our 3G hotspot was going offline in November and 5G service only had a probable start date of sometime in January. Short story was that I'd have to buy a 4G hotspot (at over $200) for the interim period and then at some point the 4G hotspot would be obsolete and need to be replaced with a 5G hotspot and no clue as to the cost of the required 5G hotspot because it wasn't even available yet.
Started shopping other IPs and Xfinity didn't provide service anywhere close because their fiber optic network didn't extend to rural areas yet. Went to T-Mobile and they offered a 5G home hotspot at no charge and a flat fee with 20GB data availability.
The T-Mobile service has been as good as needed (fast enough speeds for anything I do) and the kicker is with all that I do now not caring about reaching the data limit, I use less data than I did in the beginning with Verizon. I have to believe that Verizon was padding the data usage to force me to a higher cost plan. Data use isn't like the electric going into the house, there's no meter that I can read to double check what I'm being charged for. That was an initial feature of the Verizon hotspot but soon after it always said " This feature not available at this time" always came up when I tried to see what our data use was doing.    NO more Verizon for me, I'm even going to switch the cell phones over.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

Starlink is not available here. This new option is the last resort.
Tried to get on Hughsnet to get a pin number they want to keep my phone #.
The connection was to slow and won't load. Checked connectivity speed and it said everything is fricking perfect.
This chit is making me crazy.

No Starlink access here either, have made the calls to all the options where NADA other than the Landline service we currently have is even close to speed we get which as Snot Sliding off a marble slow.  Quoted that Magic "Up To" 10mbs Download, usually around 2-4 been as low as 1, cannot ever get better than .1 to 1.5mps Upload.  Now called Brightspeed, was Centurylink, Same Names and faces, different shop shingle.  Speed slowed upon change.  Used to repeat thru Wentzville MO and slow as owl poop decaying, now the regional 'Hub' is Dallas, Little Rock, some times Oklahoma somewhere and as swaps due to "loading" gets slower and slower, know that as the "Local Shopping" presented comes up as to whichever one is in control.  Will at times drop my viewed data or site, will stop typing on the sites, or will just go blank.  HOWEVER is far better than all the others tried in our nearly eight years here.  Ours is ANTIQUATED Copper four pair Pole hanging wire to a Fiber conversion station mile and half away off Catholic Church Road.  That little box has been seal failed for reportedly DECADES where machinery fouls nearly every rain or storm.  Slated for replacement, since 2001, still in some form of schedule time vacuum.  Current state of repairs is a taped on 50gal trash bag.

Just got home from spending about 5 months in Alabama and Texas.

Acquired a Desk top Modem from T-Mobile.

Cost $50/mo. no contract, unlimited use. Activation Fee $35

Simply plug it in to power receptacle and go.

Every where we travelled between Ontario Border and South Texas we had Internet.

Could Stream 4 or 5 TV Series every day no problem.

Totally satisfied.

Neither one of these things work. No signal on either.
Phone people think they can pull something out of there ass. Doubt it.
Want me to buy an external antennae which I said I needed to begin with.
About $750 or so.
I can get Starlink if I go with Starlink Roam $150/mo unlimited data.
Take it anywhere I guess.
Son knows someone that has it and takes it camping where there isn't any signals
on normal service.
It would be $100/month if service was in the area.
$700 initial outlay for setup. from what I understand.

T-Mobile's Coverage Map shows a very solid coverage for the States of Kansas and Missouri.

If I were you, I would visit the closest T-Mobile Store and find out from them if they have this 5G wireless internet in your area.

For here, ATT stated Could use for Streaming Vids, to 1gb Per Month, that equates to around a movie and a half per Month, as to Internet, as far as Internet off the Wireless Service, they will allow on our Iphones, just NOT allowed to cross boundaries with the current provider for a PC or other systems.

Been taking another look at Starlink.
$100 waiting list deposit. Supposed to be available this year sometime.
Downloaded the app and the signal is straight up more or less.

I asked my daughter a few questions about their Starlink. She said they are very happy with it. She said the "dish' is self-aiming and setup was a breeze. When they go to their "cottage" (we have camps in the USA), they can take it with them and it sets up very quickly and easily.

She says it is very fast and it's, by far, the best internet available to them, but it's pricey.

Not going to cost anymore than what I'm paying now.
Should get a cell signal then so I can use that phone instead of a landline.
