Hey guys I'm looking at an international 5100 grain drill. What are the things to look for in it as far as wear items.
Any pros or cons to using this for soy beans. Well I need anything special in addition to make this plant beans. |

Get a soybean special model, it will have every thing you need, like press wheels and some more drive sprockets

I agree. I have a soy special with the press wheels and have planted everything from alfalfa to soybeans with it. The wheels on mine act as excellent depth control with simple adjustment for four different depths. I've even no-tilled alfalfa, wheat, clover and fescue. As far as wear items, check openers, make sure the shafts are free and the seed cups are still free. The plastic trays connected to seed tubes can crack but no big deal. Check the main adjustment see if it works freely and when closed look inside box to check if fluted rolls are all lined up the same with seed cups. If they're not you can adjust it with the two bolts at each cup. Overall I believe they are the best drill in that class of drills.

A grass seeder would be a nice extra if you plan on planting any small seed hay or grasses.
