I have often wondered who may own a tractor with serial no. one digit from some of mine. I was looking on the registry and found that Shawn Rodenburg from Postvile, Ia. has a UC that is one number from mine. Just wondering how often he frequents this site? Wish these tractors could talk,I bet they could tell some interesting history. Dave.

A local tractor jockey once had an early D-12 that was next to mine.  Saw 10 consecutive serial number JD 8235R sell at a Florida auction. One dealer bought 5 of them

There used to be a series 1 D17D that would come to the Amana show that was 3 or 4 numbers away from mine. Kinda makes me wonder if there would be a batch of other than gasoline tractors come down the line at the same time.

Speaking of interesting discoveries in serial numbers, a forum member has a 1934 WC, serial # 1934 and engine # 1934! Would have to think Allis Chalmers did that intentionally.

My 7045 is S.N. 4570. The 8070's are S.N. 3148 & 3153. I have seen two of them for sale numbered between them.

A while back I 'copied and pasted' the Registry into an Excel file.

Now I can sort each Model by any one of:

Serial, State, Province, Location, Owner, Year

I'm not understanding the big deal about close serial numbers, originally all tractors
had two tractors within 1 serial number unless they were the first or last built and then they had 1.

True Gary, but finding them is the challenge. Once I had a chance to own two consecutive serial no. unstyleded WC's, and let it pass.

Hi Dave

What I was thinking was - if you had a particular Model and Serial No., I could look at my 'Serial Number List' for that Model to see if there was an adjacent serial number, and thus find the owners name at the time he posted it to the Registry.

We get all giddy on consecutive numbers. One pair was completely by accident.

We have a pair of 84 L3s that are consecutive, and a pair of 81 L2s that are consecutive.

As far as close ones, we have a pair of 86 R7 Gleaners that are only 10 apart, and a pair of Golden Harvest Edition L2s that are like 5 numbers apart, and in Idaho, a pair of G diesel hydros that only have one machine between them.

The 81 L2s were by accident, we had them both on the lot and someone was asking about buying a combine, so while scouting machines to judge condition and price I had a gut feeling I really should check serial numbers. Glad I did. :)

The problem with litter mates is you dont want to split them up. :)
Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.

If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help.

You know Dave, I live less than ten miles from Postville and I know about that tractor but have never seen it.  A few people have told me about it.
I should probably track the owner down and get a look at it.
