Gentlemen,
I have a 4211 Simplicity hydrostatic that at least needs some additional oil and perhaps a change. Can anyone advise the type oil this machine needs? I believe its a 1984ish era. Thanks! JP |

Without looking I'm going to say hydraulic oil. Or back then they might still been using 20 weight non-detergent engine oil, but any of todays hydraulic would be OK.

If it looks red in color, it would probably take ATF. Mercon/Dexron. At least that's what my Hydro's take...

This is a screen shot of pg 33 of simplicity 4211 owners manual. It says multipurpose hydraulic/transmission oil pn 1685516.
Not for sure if that's very helpful though.
