They say theres no such thing as a stupid question. We have a sweet AC wagon with a single action lift ram. Can you connect a single action ram to a double action modern tractor to lift it and then use the "float position" to lower the wagon?? We will be cutting beans with the 72 allcrop and I'm thinking the cab tractor would be safer driving to the grain elevator the way cars drive nowadays. Ryan

yes. double acting tractors when put in raise sends oil to to the cylinder. in the down position the oil is allowed to go back to the tank through the valve. it may strain a little in the down position as it is trying to put oil out the down side. float will also work as both up and down sides of the valve are dumoing back into the tank

You may have a problem dumping a load with it. If it is a high pressure ram like used with the CA through 45's and early 17's, the low pressure high volume systems that are standard today may try to slam the ram up at about twice the speed of normal but might not have the umph to raise a load.I have a Montgomery Wards barge box with a high pressure low volume cylinder. I have never tried to dump it with a low pressure high volume system. I have dumped wagons with my 45 that had low pressure high volume rams, but you tend to run out of oil in the 45 before you blow the end out of the cylinder.
