Topic: Hydraulics RebuildPosted: 05 Nov 2011 at 5:54am |

I am going to be tearing into the one on my C (not pumping at all) and the one on the WD-45 (loader goes up great till 4 feet off the ground and then REAL slow with nothing in it. Won't move if at all if anything in it). So I have to rebuild them both.
I have redone the linkage on the 45 several times and I think that I have it properly adjusted, so that isn't the problem with the 45. The C won't lift the Woods L306 mower. If I disconnect the mower deck and use the Hydraulic it will push the arm out. When I go to put it back together, how do I hold the spring and both detent balls in place while sliding the detent plug back over the plunger? Any other tips and tricks BEFORE I even start tearing into it? I am going to try to do the 45 without taking the rail off. Any tricks to doing this? ANY help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ted |

You might try flushing the C out good with diesel fuel and pump a little through the hydraulics once you know the crud is out of the housing.
You can do the 45 without removing the rail. To put the pump back on, you can hammer the end of an 8 penny common nail to a thin spoon-like shape and stick one in behind each cam follower to hold it drawn in out of the way. I guess that doesn't explain it very well, but once you figure it out, it will be very helpful. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 05 Nov 2011 at 6:40am |

After reading your post again, it sounds like your 45 is low on fluid. If you have the proper cylinders on a 45 loader it can run out of fluid if it's only a pint or so low.

Everything on both is clean and the fluid level on the 45 is OK on the dip stick. They both have new oil in them.

Read CTucker's post. The cylinders need to be a high-pressure type, low volume on your loader. Or it will raise up a little and promptly run out of fluid. Just not a lot of reservoir there. |

Ted I had a pump off a 45 several years ago, not that hard and I did not remove rail I do remember there was a lot of crud in the bottom of the housing, I felt much better after cleaning-- same feeling you get from buying your wife a unexpected gift that cost lots!

Easy way to find out of it's running out of fluid is to raise it up till it stops and add a little more fluid. If it goes up more then it's running out.
