I would like to know the right way to use a transport valve.

First things first. Are you pulling a mounted implement with its own transport wheels such as a large disc or a plow with a trailing wheel?

yes i am pulling a 10 foot disc with wheels and hydraulic cylinder.When i raise my disc the 3 point has to come up and then the disc goes up. It is hard to time all of this to turn around at the end of the field. Thanks

What tractor would be helpful as well? The D series have different valve than the say WD/45s

Raise the lift arms and tie them up so they can't go down. Then go disc your ground. I've done it for years. Forget the transport valve.

But, this sounds like you do not have a mounted disc with wheels but simply a pull type disc attached to the draw bar. If that's the case, the transport valve does nothing for you. I'm assuming you have a D17 or WD45 or something with a snap coupler hitch and one hydraulic outlet since the lift arms are controlled by the same lever that controls the lifting of the implement. I think it sounds like a pull type with traction booster.

I don't think so because the rigid links on the traction booster draw bar would prevent the lift arms from going down...which is the poster's main complaint...that it takes too long for the lift arms to raise all the way up when lifting the implement. A picture here would be worth 1000 words!!! LOL |

thank-you all for the responses. I have a d15 series 2 and i am trying to keep the lift arms up when i am pulling a disc. I am also using a dump trailer and when it is empty the hydraulic cylinder on the trailer extends before the 3 point goes up.

Take a piece of rope and tie the lift arms "UP" to the back of the seats suspension frame. One lift arm will probably do.

Beyond all that,the transport valve, when backed out,sends oil to the remote cyl first then to the lift arms.There's a pressure differential but I don't know what it is.If the valve is screwed all the way in ,it will be the same as not having one and the port with least resistance will act first.

All the way out (counter-clockwise) sends oil to lift arms first (to utilize the Traction Booster feature) then the remote ram. Clockwise (all the way in) is for normal operation.
