Going to fit the drapers on my 60A and get everything field ready before summer. Of course, I will take them back off before storage, but I would like to know what the easiest way to put the drapers on is. I've never done it before.
Thanks

Ok, for the lower draper first take the end of the draper that has the bar on it over the top roller then back down to the bottom roller and back up, then meet in the middle with the slited end. Put the slited ends between the two connecting slats and tighten them down. For the upper draper, have it in loose mode( when it looks vertical) and put the draper on to where it has enough sag of about one inch. You want the slited ends to cover the nuts on the draper. If you need more I can post a pic from the book.
If you want a man to be a successful farmer, give him a Allis Chalmers tractor. If you want him to be a successful mechanic, give him a John Deere

Thanks Tom! That's a big help! Although it's kinda embarrassing that I'm 17 and someone younger than me is teaching me how to set up my combine! LOL

I'm only one year below ya, so its not that bad! Don't you have a book on it, that would have told you how to put em on.

Wow, I did not realize how young you and Orange4ever are. I'm very impress with the both of you. Glad to know that the younger generation is interested in old iron and Allis to boot. Keep all the AC's going as you can and never stop pushing yourself to learn more.

Thanks & God Bless

Dennis

Yes, I have a book, I was just unsure of the best way to route the drapers over the rollers.
Dennis, so far I know of 3 "young'uns" on here. Orange4ever, Mike Plotner, and myself.

Now I just have to get a new upper draper, as mine's chewed up, and get a hand held tach and it'll be ready for harvest!
