How much oil should be put into a new compressor for an allis chalmers 7000/8000 series tractor?  We visited with the Doc this morning and he had a number in his head but wasn't 100%.

Thanks!

Fridgidaire A-6 holds 6 oz. R-4 doesn't have a sump to collect oil.

Without a sump on he compressor it will take a lot less. My rule of thumb was if you completely clean the system put in 2oz. for hoses, same for dryer, condenser and evaporator. Compressor should come prelubed, but check to make sure. So it looks like 10oz. should do it, plus what may or may not go in the compressor.
