I had the chance to purchase a non-running A-C 5020. It's branded a Simplicity 9523 by the decal, but the serial number plate says it is a 1983 model 5020.

I got it to run, and for a little two cylinder motor, it sounds good.  I am sort of new to this later model of an A-C tractor so i was wondering of those who own one, how do you like them?

Is there anyone who didn't like them and why?

I love mine.  It's a nice little hop on and go do the job tractor.  I don't farm, but I'm always cutting down trees it seems.  I have a large york rake I use on it and a 5' brush hog that it works good with.  I have a 3 point blade but I usually use my SC blade now that it's on the D14.  It came with a 5' belly mower but I didn't like how it cut so I took it off.  I pulled a 6' woods finish mower with it for a while.  It's like that bunny!

I have one problem with mine. Every time I go to use it when I check the fuel...it seems like someone must be putting fuel in as it never seems like it goes down. Very easy on fuel. Den

I have a 5020, and a 9523, and my 9523 serial tag says simplicity, 9523. Wonder if someone swapped your hood. They are tough little boogers! For a 20hp tractor they just keep grunting, and never quit! Mine are both 2wd.

Den...I have the other issue. Mine seems to run out of fuel frequently. I should check the hour meter between fills. I use it for just about everything!

I was told by my local Simplicity Dealer who has been in business for 65 years that when a 5020 was shipped, it came in a crate and had both Allis and Simplicity decals with it. The Dealer simply applied the correct decal for whichever brand they sold.

Can this be confirmed??

yes, they are the same tractor. not sure on the decals though. same as the hinomoto e23 and an MF model as well.

i love my little beast. runs great, mine is 3 wheel drive, missing the left side gears in the front axle.   starts right up in the cold, good power, loader is so useful.

mine has a power steering kit on it.

I've got a 5020 Allis that has been in the family since my Dad bought it in 1977. So that would make it 43 years. We have been please with it. He use to keep the fence rows meticulous with an old high wheeled mower--- but then he bought the 5020, narrowed the rear wheels as much as he could and bought a 4 foot bush hog and eliminated all the hard work he had been doing. It's 4wd and when it comes to pushing snow on my steep driveway --- I'd rather be on the 5020 than the 190XT. It runs great. All that has ever been done was replace water pump and I also put an electric fan in front of radiator because the "grass chaff" would plug the radiator when you bush-hogged--- and the fan was a big help in keeping the radiator clean! It seems to be getting a little harder to start at 15 to 20 degrees----but it still starts better than the 190XT!!

I have a MF 220 basically the same tractor as a AC 5030,it is a good tractor to use until something major breaks then it'll be a parts tractor since very few parts are available anymore.I bought it real cheap so if it breaks no big deal.

Have 2 minty ones. One has the three range trans. Although those creeper gears are useless.
What they really need was a live PTO. Very important to keep correct level of oil in your injection pump, or you’ll be doing a rebuild.

I would love to have the three range transmission in my 5030! It would add a few gears in the middle. There is a big jump between 4 lo and 1 high.
