I have visited this forum for untold amount of years searching for an answer to this or that, never realizing how great the pool of knowledge really was. This spring,( not knowing Ryan was a member) we were talking Orange, and, we both were talking about something that we had read on the Forum. I guess one thing led to another, and, he suggested that I should join. Best site that I have ever visited, so easy to navigate. I can not believe other sites have not copied this one. THANKS DARIN

Think it was 2007 or 8. Not sure now. Can't imagine a time when I didn't come on here. It's just part of my routine. I don't feel right if I don't at least come on and browse a little before bed. Sometimes I even get in a mood to be "talkative", and that usually is good for a laugh at my expense. I'm really good at typing before thinking. LOL!
Thanks so much for all the hard work Darin. This is the best site in the known universe!
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

I am unsure when I first posted on here somewhere around 97 or 98 I believe, use to be the 20 pages and you would come back and see there might be one post since the last time you checked ,
Slowly it has grown and more and more individuals have posted to now the topics move fast and you have to check often or your lost .
The new site sure helps with the different sections and the fact of members posting, then spam wasn't that much of a problem and the form was open , then the match code cam into being to control spam , and now this site ,
Over the years it has been a great site and I appreciate all the effort that has went into keeping it up and running and for all the great people who share their information.

I don't know how long I've been coming here but I remember that old website. I was around many years ago but took a break for a few years. Now I'm back.

Started in 1996 I belive when my second Ex wife told me I should learn how to navigate around a computer, while I was healing from hernia surgery, and boy I sure learned how to navigate to all the tractor sites, but most of all this one. Thanks Darrin.

This is a response I got from Darrin awhile back:
I think I started this site in 1996 or 97. It wasn't until 1998 that I picked up the Allis-Chalmers.com domain name. I started it without any great expectations of wealth or fame, and that has all been full-filled (LOL). I have always been surprised by the virtual community that has sprung up around the forum. There are several other things I would like to develope on this site but I just never have the time. One a side note, I was going to register Farmall.com while it was available, but I waited a few days too many and someone else picked it up.

I started on YT probably ten years or so ago, then found this forum after 2-3 years. Used both of them for quite awhile and never posted. I was like Thad in Ark. I was scared to, and 'sides didn't know how. Came to this one 11 Sept. 99, and was sorta suprised to see 6399 members on here now. I think I was in the first hundred when this forum started, and the old one was closed.

Found this in the fall of 1999.  Had moved the family from Dallas to Oklahoma to help take care of my parents and needed parts/information.  Dad still had most of the answers but I usually thought of the questions on shift which means at night and I couldn't just call him at 2 am.  Was MUCH easier to stay caught up on the forum back then.  Saw a lot more of Ted and that bunch on here then too.

I don't remember when I found it, several years before the new site for sure.  As with all new stuff, I wasn't real happy with the change but other then the ease of posting pics on the old one (thanks to Barb), I would hate to go back.  Still can't seem to learn to post from my Mac to this site, tried many times and have given up for now.  I really like the divisions, It seems like we do a fairly good job of following the rules.  I mostly stay off the political site, too hard on this Lilly liveried, bleeding heart liberal's blood pressure!
Thanks to UA, I've traded with KenTX, rhubarb for tomatoes, heard of and attended Hutch and found a few tractors, not too far away from home I wouldn't have found otherwise.
THANKS TO DARIN FOR ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT HE'S PUT IN OVER THE YEARS!!!!!

Found this site around 2000 when i was getting out of farming and looking for a place to sell a couple of tractors. I don't post very often but check things out a couple times a day as I still have a 190xt. I seem to learn something all the time. By the way I did get my 7040 & other 190 sold.

It was 1999 for me, I was still in the Marines and had come back from a cruise and bought my first Allis. It was a CA that had a knock, the knock ended up being the crank broken in two and although it still ran, the two ends were all bruised from hitting each Other. Like Darrell, I remember the chat room was a new thing to me and I had a blast chatting with DG, Farmgal, Butch ,Okie etc. I've taken to the changes but still miss the old.  When I moved back home from N.C. I brought back 11 tractors and have another couple dozen. Now I manage a Massey / AGCO dealership and get all my parts at cost....how nice is that.   Merry Christmas to all members and especially Darin  Mike

It was 1998 for me. We finally got the internet in town and ran a search for Allis Chalmers and found it. I don't post much but check in almost every day.

That brought back a memory.  I remember when Darin asked us which we preferred; AllisChalmers or Allis-Chalmers, because he was getting ready to change the name.

I voted for AllisChalmers!!!

I found it when i was restoring my dad's 45 diesel a few years back, i don't post often, only when i know what i am talking about. I farm 1200 acres , try to read daily, can't always get to it, also a mechanic, so some of this stuff is really good and some of it really bad.  I have seen people come and go, some get mad easy, some have more to say then should, and lots of people on here are great help.  I like reading most post, have had thoughts that i have not posted and always try to be respectably to everone else on the form.   I want to thank Darin for this forum and keep up the good work.

I to stumbled onto this site around 1999-2000 when I first purchased "Alice" my Model B. Been here ever since trying to help folks out with mechanical and especially electrical problems. Also met a lot of great folks at shows from this forum! I do remember, when I started building the wiring systems for the AC Tractors, that Dave Maddux was one of our first customer's to buy a system. A perfect example of one of the great folks I've met through this site, and still happy to say he's still one of our customer's! JoAnna and I have big plans this year to get the Custom Circuits website going, along with getting back on board here with Darin to support this great site he created! Thank You Darin! You da' man!! We'll be back in 2012 with our new address and new shop!

Joined the forum back in 1968. Course back then we would all mail letters in, then the pile would be sent from member to member with new comments being added along the way.
:)

This is a great site! Only been on here a few months and have learned volumes!
Thanks to Darin for a place to be Orange!

I started a little over a year ago when I was restoring my 1937 WC. Joining this site was one of the best decisions I've made.

I have been here since 1996 or 1997, had one collector tractor, my Dad's 1955 WD45 that he bought new, it has grown to close to 90 AC tractors now plus close to 150 AC implements.
I do not post very much but get on here every morning and night to keep up with all the latest AC news.
Thanks Darin for a great site.

Any one remember the pin map that was put together quite a few years ago that pointed out where everyone was located? It started out as an actual paper map that one of the forum members put pins into when ever a member told his location, and then someone put up a computer generated map that each member could put their own "cyber pin" onto to designate their location. I'd be content with a penny.

Not sure when I first found this board, maybe 1996 or 97. The G was the featured model in '98, it had been 50 years since it's introduction. One of the GOTO's was at Marshalltown Iowa, and I think the other was at the Florida Fly Wheelers. I made the Marshalltown show and I think the Fly Wheelers also.

I like the new format better.

I was on ytmag forum in early 2004 asking for a wide front for a WD and a nice guy named Tony (Tony & Barb) said he had one but said he knew a guy that had on closer to me and gave me Bob Houghs phone number.Gave him a call and bought the front end and he ask me if i was on the Allis site and i said no...so he said go to allischalmers.com and try it out.Said allot of good info on the site and he was right!Told me his handle was "Okieboy" and been here ever since.Do not post much anymore due to work etc...but always lurking. Was sad when I heard okie did the things he did to some on this site because he sure did help me several times when i would ask questions about certain WD problems.Keep up the good work Darrin.

I found the forum around 1997.  Reading some of the other posts brought back some memories.  Some early names that come to mind are Harrell Sellers, Gordon Chance, and Ted Buisker.  I was the first to post a picture back in 2000 when I bought a 1968 190XT Series II.  Keep up the great work Darin...
