I got my first computer in Feb of '99 and this was one of my first discoveries; its been in my "favorites" ever since!
It was quite active then but it has grown tremendously since then.
A wonderful site with a great bunch of people and hardly ever any bickering or
meanness!
Merry Christmas to you all!

I found this site in the late 1990's when I started restoring my WD. It has been a big help.

Harrell Sellers might have been the first to post. When I got on in 95( before it even had the allischalmers.com web address)  there were like 12 posts per day. Harrell would be good for 4 or 5 responses. He referred everyone to Wayne Dodge or the AGCO dealer in Bryant SD. All three are long gone.

Ted B. was a early one and also F. Wilke.  I know I saw a story about Eldons family in Successful Farming, and is was about that time he started posting here.

I found this site in about '98 or '99, and have been part of this "great family" ever since. I have made some great friends thru this site- some I have met personally and others I haven't.  Some have even come and stayed for a while!!

Learned a lot of new things, too, even some I didn't need to know!!LOL

Thanks, Darrin for the greatest site on the net.

I've been coming here since the 1990's.  I can remember logging on from the computer lab at the University and I graduated in 1999.  I can remember when you had to go to Darin's website, (was it  dstratton.com?) and then enter the discussion group.  It wasn't allischalmers.com until later.

I think I came on in 98....using a WebTV browser in a condo in Bend Oregon.  I was looking for information on a C that a friend was looking at buying. Turned out it had a B front end on it....hate to think how many hours I have spent here, a day without the forum is a rare and lonely day! Met a lot of people and learned more than I will ever remember! Went from two D19TD and a D17 to over 80 tractors and probably that many implements, tons of parts and literature in that time period. I wonder what the next 13 years will bring???

I never knew this site has been around so long! Before I was even born (1997)!
There are a great bunch of people here, and I hate to go a day without checking out "The Forum".
Keep up the good work Darin!

Nathan,  Did Harrell pass?  I got a loader from him once.  Drove up there on the way home from KCMO.  He sure was a nice guy, and I really liked his stories.  He was the first to write about ACE that I ever saw.

I can recall my first day here as vividly as the day and where I was when JFK was shot. I had landed in Watertown, NY in 2004 in the dead of winter with my Lear 31A. We were 'holed up there' for days awaiting the next trip. I found this site and saw a CA with L306 for sale. I called Don Jr. that day and the first days I had off I went and met Don and bought it. I can't imagine life without this place! Thank you Darin!

Your post reminded me that when I got my first computer at work that was on-line in the fall of 99 the 'puter guru said you have the internet now. I said, So? what do I do with that? She said to Email to which I again said so what? She then turned on the browser and looking at the wall of my office there was, and still is a picture of our 38A. So she punched in Allis Chalmers and did a couple other things and right in front of me was the original page, and  here I have been since. How many besides me can say the very first internet site they ever looked at was this one??? LOL I also remember asking her why the pointer thing changed to a finger, LOL and I discovered links.

I think my very first post was looking for headgaskets for that tractor?

Been here for a long long time.... Found the place when my wife had gone back to school to get her teaching degree in the 1990's. I would drive her to night class, then sit in the computer lab while she was in class. I found YTMag first, then this site soon after.

Then, Kim kicked me off YTMag for directing people over here, and for linking posts here back to the Photo galley over there.... (uh, and for some unkind things that happened in the middle, etc, etc, but I'v grown up a little since then... LOL)

Remember when the MATCH Code went in over there, and we had a choice to view Activity Threads Collapsed or Threads Expanded? And that was Series III..... Remember when the Chat Room actually worked?  How about when the Image Archive was started and only had about a dozen pictures in it?

Ah, the good old days.....

I hit here I think around 2000 under another handle. Good info, even had a dude from minn at my house one night I met here. The chat room used to be a riot, busting each others butts. I left for awhile because I got burned out with the pooter, but it was nice to settle back in to checking the forum daily. Thanks Darrin for the work you do keeping this going.
I have a 185 Allis, 6060 Allis, Model K gleaner, SMTA ferg 35, ferg 20 (paps first tractor, Allis B (wife's)John Deere 240 skid loader and a bunch of the usual farm stuff.

I showed up around 1999 when we got internet service on the farm. First it was YT and then someone made the comment that "this ain't nothin", you should go to Allis Chalmers.com" so here I am. I used the internet to promote our show in Penfield for 2001 and met Jack Gustafson, Norm Meinert, Ted Buisker Dale Haymaker and Butch Cherrington. That show was my first contact with Norm Swinford who I invited down to sell his books. Witnessing Norm's skill as a saleman and promoter was a revelation for me. Plus a whole bunch of like minded individuals and was invited to the 2002 GOTO where I met Allen Dilg and his crew and it's been down hill ever since! I can't begin to name the friendships that have begun because of this site and would feel bad if I left someone out.

I do miss the chat room though. I remember one early session where we joking around amongst ourselves and someone asked if we knew each other. The answer was simple, most of us had met each other in person and thus were able to share a laugh just by mentioning a person or incident like: "I aint hugging Fred!". You had to be there, but that moment in time is priceless as is this forum.

I first started coming here in 2000 shortly after I bought my first A-C, a 1950 C wide front. I've been an occasional poster for about the last ten years or so, but seldom miss a day checking in. When Dad calls and asks did you see such & such on the web site, I never have to ask, "which web site?" Kip

Been here since about 95, before it was allischalmers.com.  I think it was 3000 toys back then.  At one time I was one of the more knowledgeable question answerers on here, but there are a lot more knowledgeable people on here now.  I kind of stick with plows now, as they are kind of a specialty with me.

Hey Ted,
When I first came here in early '99, I was also one of the more knowledgable guys.
Seems like I got a lot dumber in 12 years.
Actually, we've gotten a lot of really knowledgable guys on here since then and I've
learned much, much more about A-C than I could have had I not spent time here.
Thank you Darin and all the rest of you; its been a lot of fun.

I was looking for my first tractor back in 1998 and came across the old forum. I wanted a smaller antique tractor with live power and enough horse power to use a loader, under 2,000 bucks. I got married and bought my first AC in 1999, A 54 wd45 wide front with a Kelly loader. Currently collecting ca tractors and implements. After getting use to the new forum there's no comparison to the old, except for the politics section. What a waste of good tractor space!

The first words I ever typed on a computer were www.allischalmers.com and it brought me here. I didn't know how forums worked. I was very nervous making my first post. I went here every day for probably 6 months before I ever looked at anything else on the computer. It was 2006 or 2007. I can't believe how much I've learned and how many parts I've found. I've met a few members and they didn't look like what I thought they would. I still have visons of what some look like but I'm probably not even close. Thanks Darrin for a great site. Barb sent me an email telling me how to post pics on the old forum. I saved that email until we got the new forum and now I have a saved post from Glen on how to post pics on this forum. I'm still not much of a hand on the computer but I sure can waste a lot of time on here. Does anyone still check out the old one?

Mid -90's for me, it was the great 3000 toys days, seems so long ago. Have learned much here, taught a small thing or two, met some really great people who have either gone to greater glory or just moved on in life. Thankful to all who remain and happy to check in every time I can. Thanks Darrin!

It must have been around 2000 for me also, I had just bought this place where I live now, and my first AC tractor, my 1960 black bar d-14. I remembering going to tractor shows and people introducing themselves from the forum. I have traveled quite a distance since then. Dave.
