To all,  well got the engine/fuel issue resolved and now its on to hydraulics..  After sitting for many years I got the old girl back up and running.  Climbed aboard to check out the hydraulics and found the steering worked (After I replaced a hose) and the PTO seems to work fine as well.  Not being sure which lever worked the lift I found out they all seemed to be frozen,  so I commenced to spray (lubricate) every thing I could.  After that I was able to get a couple moving but never got any movement out of the lift at all.  I could hear the engine loading up when I moved one or two in the forward position.  Not having any idea as to what to check first,,   would you guys have any advice or ideas as to how to proceed next? The tractor has all new fluids and filters,  I am stuck at this point in trying to get the lift operational. Thanks much.

The lift lever is the one closest to the fender. The two next to it are the remotes. If the engine loads when the remote levers are moved, it sounds like the pump is working.
I would look to see if the traction boost and position levers on the back of the console are moving and not frozen on their shaft.
Another possibility is that the lift cylinders are stuck. usually they will extend but not lower.

Joe, Thanks for the info. The lift has been in the up position since I have started to work on it.  Will I need to weight it down with something to help it move down or should it move down under its own weight when I move the lever to the down position? Also which way is down,  lever moved toward the front or to the back of the tractor?

Brad, my brother opened up, cleaned and blew out the return lines/fittings and she started running somewhat ok again.  Im sure we will get it gone through once we get it moved back to the shop.  After running the lift does not work for some reason..

Forward is down, have someone stand on the ends of the arms but hold on tight and hold the lever all the way ahead and see if the arms go down.

Ok guys so I got the manual and tried all settings to get the lift arms to go down without any success. This tractor has been setting for years and was wondering if there could be air in the system or any adjustments are bleeds I should do to get it operational? All the other hydraulics are working fine but only the lift is stuck in the up position.  Any help would be appreciated as I am at the limit of reason and knowledge on this one... Thanks.

It may take a lot of weight if they have been up for years. Try it with engine off.     MACK

Sounds like the traction booster valve spool is stuck. Refer to your manual to locate the tb spool in your valve stack. You can usually remove the cap at the rear of the spool and tap it to free it up.

ok guys so I tried this..  I opened the long cap on the lift arm valve spool and it seemed to be tight but nut stuck. I was able to move it with my hammer handle and lubricated it up well.  I did however find a big break on the side of the cap and didn't know if this would effect anything working or not?  Moving on,  upon inspection I found a fork flapping around not connected to anything and assumed it attached to the bracket in front of it. Anyone have any idea of how to attach it back over the button it rides on?  I tried to remove the rod but for some reason I could get it back far enough to re-attach it..  After all this still nothing in terms of getting the lift to lower.  I even put a lot of weight on the lift with no results.  However when i work the lift control back and forth now it does make the thing jerk somewhat now as opposed to nothing before...  thanks for all your help the grass is growing fast fast now and hope to mow soon!!    also almost forgot do I need to remove the other (2) caps and check/lubricate them as well?

Help guys i need a 190xt lift expert!!!!!     things done and still can not get it to lower.  Opened, lubricated and sure of operation, Lift spool valve,  sensing valve, all linkage was checked for connection and function.  Lift seems to jerk up when applying control to lift, Lift does nothing when you move the control forward to lower.  Tractor has plenty of fresh fluids and steering works great. This is beyond me...  good running tractor but without the use of my 3-point implements its of no use to me.  any help would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of time and effort.

Disconnect both hoses at each lift cylinder with the engine shut off.  Stand on the hitch to make it go down. If it won't go down, get a long pipe or pry bar and make it go down. Now that it is down, reconnect your hoses and start the engine and throttle up to 50%. DO NOT try and raise the hitch !!!!   I want to see if the hitch will stay down now that it is down. If it slowly goes up to the top on its own you have another problem.

Dr. Allis how do I positiion the traction boost and position control levers. In the Up or Down position for each?    Also as for as the hydraulic controls I position the inner control "closest to the fender " forward to drop the lift right?   What about the two other control levers to the left of the lift control lever? how do i position them? thanks much just making sure I am right with everything.

ok Dr Allis and all...  I tried to disconnect the 1  line from each of the lift rams with no success, so I then loosened the "to tractor lift rams" line at the spool valve outlet.  With the tractor running I worked the lever back and forth and finally got some milky oil to run out.  Even with that line loose and a lot of weight stacked up on the lift it is still stuck in the up position. I have both the position and tractor boost controls in the down position. I cant understand how the oil is white when I just put it in a few weeks ago,, unless it was already in there from just setting up.  It is as if the lift rams are frozen up?  Also I could only find (1) line to each lift ram cylinder?  Finally I left the control in the forward or down position with a lot of weight on the lift hoping it might go DOWN...  If you guys have any further ideas please let me know as I am out of knowledge an options. Thanks much for all your help.  I will beating on it again tomorrow.. :)

Traction Booster and Position Controls levers DOWN. Engine off and lines removed from cylinder use a very LONG BAR or pipe to force them down. They must be stuck.

Will give it another shot..  Just don't want to break anything.  Are there 2 lines per cylinder or just the one near the base in the back?  Thanks.

They are one-way cylinders, so only one hose.

DrAllis, Mack and all..  disconnected lines from lift cylinders,  put a 6" sched 80 pipe across the arms, layed my trailer ramps on top of the pipe and drove my truck up the ramps...  waited..  then a loud bang and old black oil shot out of the cylinders like a cannon and down the arms and my truck went.. lol.  they were definitely stuck.  My next question is what steps would you take next in bleeding the cylinders and making sure they work as my bush hog is ready for a hookup.  Thanks much fellows for all the great advice. This forum can't be beat! Success!

They will bleed themselves. Just raise them up and down with brush cutter on them. Glad you got them down.     MACK

Short of taking off the cylinders and rebuilding them, all you can really do is hook up the lines and put it to work and see what happens. No bleeding of lines is necessary.
