    Posted: 16 Apr 2012 at 10:55pm
Have a Gleaner K, broke the end off of the power steering hose in the cylinder, and its flush with the cylinder. Can't get it out, I've tried an easy out, heating it, cutting it out with a chisel, and nothing seems to work.

What is the best way to repair? Would drilling it out and rethreading the hole work? Will I need a new cylinder? Need some fresh ideas.

Thanks.

If you didn't have any luck with the heat wrench, then personally I would go looking for a used cylinder.  If you had the last one available I would say keep trying to fix what you've got, but there are a ton of those combines in salvage.

Most likely the cylinder is the same as an E, E3, K2 and maybe the F's also.  Good luck!

I'd try drilling out just enough so that a thread chaser can clean the threads out. Should work easy cause you're already centered with a hole in the broken fitting. Flush the cylinder good afterward.

Take it to a machine shop. Any good shop should be able to get it out of there.

Thanks guys! Managed to get it out this afternoon, thanks to some of yourall's suggestions, and fire the combine up. Getting ready to go through and change the oil, clean her up, and do a little fuel tank work, (the line is stopped up and we'd been using an auxiliary tank for the time being). Might need a tune up too, it's been awhile.
Thanks for the help, and dont go anywhere. May need some more soon. haha.
Bless you all.
