I am trying to remove the shifter cover from the side of the transmission. Problems in shifter are causing the shifter to get out of place. It maybe jammed up, but not sure what the problem really is. Need to repair brake lock if possible. Anyway, I have unbolted the shift cover and there seems to be something holding it inside but I can see nothing in the parts book that I thought would cause this. Any help would be appreciated. This is for shifting between high and low range and park.

You have to take the top cover of the range box off under the floorboard and unbolt the shift fork first.

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE FLOOR OUT OF THE CAB. THEN YOU GET YHE SHIFTING LEVEFR OUT. THEN TAKE THE COVER OFF THE TOP OF THE RANGE TRANSMISSION.  THEN YOU NEED A 9/16 SOCKET TO REMOVE THE TWO BOLT ,THAT HOLD THE SHIFTING FORK ON.THEN YOU CAN REMOVE THE SIDE COVER.
