looking at an HD-9 loader and was wondering what they are like as far as parts availability and overall durability.
I was planning on using it around the farm to clear fence lines etc, not any real heavy work.
Has Detroit engine and bucket, claims to have 80% undercarriage and new clutch+ pressure plate. Tin and Bucket looks straight.
Have only seen pics and plan on going to see it in person. What should I look for and are there any red flags that I should be aware of.
Any idea of value if it's decent?

detroit engine is actually a plus as they are easier to get parts for than an allis engine.  if the undercarriage is good i would say go for it.  i have not owned a track loader but i would sure be checking the undercarriage and truck frames they take alot of abuse on a loader turning under weight

That flywheel part was 1 of 12 pieces to make complete 25ft.4in. dia. flywheel with total weight of 60 ton. It is on a stationary steam engine that I operate.

Had a look at loader and looks really good for it's age.

some loose in the loader mounting brackets and bushings but nothing I didn't expect.

Are there wedges of some kind that tighten the brackets to the frame? Looks like there is a gap between bottom of bracket and crossmember that holds the bracket at bottom. Or is it just bolted tight?

engine sounds really good.

Had trouble with the linkage/lock when shifting from low to high range. had to lift on the rod that goes under floor to slip it into high but once in gear seemed to be fine. Is this a big concern or tough fix?

under carriage looks good, rails in good shape and sprockets good.

The HD9 is a good machine and you could check the frame bolting to the stering rear housing sometime the bolts are broken and the frame could be loosed from stering cluch housing
