You can take the yoke off the trans input shaft, but nothing else would have to move

Get comfortable laying on your side with your head down. I like to take the steering clutch levers off. I use a pilot shaft to align the disk and support the pressure plate. I use 2 phillips screw drivers to help with the pressure plate. Last time I did one I wished for some method of supporting myself comfortably like a sling from an overhead crane. I use pillows protected by dog food bags to lay on and support my head while I'm hanging upside down working on the clutch. If you have trouble removing the bellhousing you may have to loosen the rear motor mount and raise the rear of the motor slightly.

You are telling me that you got the bellhousing out but can not get it back in place. It is a real pain but it does fit without removing the transmission nose. Are you trying to put the bellhousing in place with the clutch shaft attached to the bellhousing? Good luck

If an HD6 is like a 5 the bell housing (sans clutch shaft) is set in place with the clutch resting inside it.  That gives an inch or so of space to bolt up the clutch and then the bell housing is moved forward to be bolted in.

I did the clutch in my HD6G 25013 I ended up taking the motor out, that wasn't an issue as we had an excavator handy, and with the nosecone tilted and the radiator out there's not much else other than the pump to remove, once out I did the engine bearings as every thing was exposed.

Welcome Donoman I am sending you a Private Message about main bearings for your HD6 motor. I wonder how many other members are from New Zealand?
When I could not find main bearings for my HD6G I found an AC dealer in Puerto Rico and purchased his remaining stock. I also have an HD344 crankshaft that I had rebuilt 0.010/0.010 because it spun #4 rod bearing that is for sale.
