I received my eBay starter motor today. It is a universal starter that fits many pieces of industrial equipment. The eBay post says it fits an Allis Chalmers HD6G. The gear opening on the new starter is on the wrong side indicating it is set up for installation on the left side of the motor. That should not be a problem because the mounting flange can be re-positioned. Looking at the original motor the curved bendix spline indicates CCW rotation looking at the motor from the gear end. The new motor does not have a visible spline. The eBay posting says the unit has CW rotation.
QUESTIONS: Do the HD6G and the HD6E have the same rotation? Am I correct that the HD6E starter rotates CCW? |
