    Posted: 05 Oct 2014 at 7:29pm
Hi, I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has the new spec dimension and maximum wear limit for all of the undercarriage components of an HD6AG (rails, rollers, idlers, carrier roller, pins and bushings, etc.).  The tractor is a turbocharged 5 roller farm unit and the serial number is 20702.  I am trying to assess the overall condition of my undercarriage.
Thanks for your help!
Andy

You have a 1967 model HD6 Look at the front idler position on the slide bar. If it is at the forward end the chain is warn out unless someone removed a link. If the chain pins are worn by the truck wheels then the rail height and/or the truck wheels are worn. Look at the bushings are they round? This assesses overall condition but does not give you a wear percentage. The greater problem is getting parts. Can you post pictures?

HD6, I am not sure if all inclusive, should be 6.5" pitch, the way this is measured is across four links. At the front or back edge of a link pin, with the rail snug tight, measure to the same edge of the fifth pin away, that will be across four full links. This measure gets divided by four to reach the single average link measure and while hard to believe 6.65" or .150" longer than new is worn 100%.

I cannot ever get links to load so you will have to cut/paste.

Thank you to everyone for responding to my questions. Just curious but are the track gauges that Coke showed available? As well, I assume from the gauge that the maximum amount of wear to the diameter of the roller is 1/4". Does anyone know what the new measurement is? On the front idler, I assume there is 1/2" of allowable wear to the diameter of the rolling surface? What is new spec? Just trying to make do without the track gauge.
Thanks,
Andy
