My buddy has an HD5 crawler with the TractoShovel loader on it that he wants to get rid of. It does run, but has to pull start it as all the wiring is shot. Pads are fair, chains are about out of adjustment. Hate to lowball him but I dont wanna get taken either. Whats fair market value?

I have bought machines from $800 to $3000
I have sold machines from $1950 to $2500
If it wont start with starter ? Its simple circuit - hot lead to starter switch , ground cable to frame (+ grnd) push foot rod to starter switch and it should turn over .
What is it worth - from $1,000 to $2,500 if everything works .If track and sprockets and other under carriage is marginal  - well then a toss up as machine is weight .
Parting it out $3,500 or so in parts IF YOU FIND BUYERS and have several years to hold them parts until ..
What would I sell my HD5G (1955 year) for - not less than $6,000 . What would someone offer me - $1500 . Why I still have it and will keep it until .
I paid $3,200 for it in 1972 , put track on it and sprockets, rebuilt engine and master clutch as well as steering clutches, brakes, bearings in ring gear and trany , over the years - but have also used it in business up until 2003.
