Hey guys, we picked up a HD4 not long ago and have some questions.  On the throttle, should it be an accelerator or a Deaccelerator? Ours is set up as an accelerator on the pedal and no hand throttle but some of the linkage looks like it might be homemade?   Also does anybody have any idea on where to get tracks for these old things at? Ours are pretty worn and it will need a set here sometime. We cant seem to find any place that has them?  Thanks!!

Pedals could be had both ways. I prefer decellerator myself. Tracks are expensive. Might try Ivan Sumerix, Lachine MI. He will have most stuff you need. HTH Tracy Martin

MN HD4 loader was de-cillerator and the throttle was on side by fwd / rev lever on left side of machine operators seat.
 I had pins and bushings put in my old tracks as the rail height was still good.
Track and sprockets might be hard , believe H3 sprockets are the same , as are 653, 655 machine parts .

Try Heavyquip.com. They are aftermarket parts mainly with tracks, rollers, etc. They can also press pins and bushings.

I noticed with the HD4 the brakes are hard to get use to also with de-cillerator on right as the left foot is then used for both brakes. Hard to train oneself to use just one foot to turn after you run a HD5, then the FD5 I have has steer clutch and brake on same pedal, de-cillerator on both sides and a single brake pedal in center that will apply both brakes and clutches to stop machine NOW.
 Seems there are not enough hands and feet to go around at times. On HD5G with hand clutch, lever steer and loader valves I have run out of hands many times.

Been learning to drive my HD4 and I've experienced hand, foot, eye mis-coordination a number of times.  Trying to learn to drive with left foot on steering brakes too.  Don't have the decelerator.  Most of my confusion is coming from the blade control levers. Up and down ...no problem but the other two aren't embedded in the brain yet.

Have pushed up a bunch of ice storm stumps, limbs, etc. and pushed a bunch of dirt around.  I've enjoyed every minute.
