First off put the tracks on the right way - they are bass ackwards in the direction of travel - unless you will be working mostly in reverse .
Next the grousers on a loader machine make for undercarriage failure from strain onto track when turning with a loaded bucket . then yes the gas should switch over with little to no problem . small machine for that big ripper .

If you clutch it the hyds will quit, if that is what you are asking, and as long as you stuff a 149 or 60 into it and switch starter to rad shouldnt be too hard. I have both and most everything is different form starter to rad including the hoods and aircleaner, and if you want to sell some of the diesel parts after you pull it out please let me know, Thanks Dustin

I agree with Eldon (WA), The left track is backwards, the right one on correctly!

Is the input shaft on the transmission a different length as it is on the D-17 gas vs diesel?

The undercarriage looks to be in pretty good condition. Wonder if it is somewhat a hybrid? What's wrong with the engine? Hopefully you got the hood and grill. Unless you plan on doing more then occasionally playing with it, I don't think the tracks will cause much problem. (Once the one is put on correctly) Another good find for Eldon!

I would reverse the backward track and then torch off about 1/2 the height of the grousers. I worked with a company that had a TD4 loader with dozer tracks and it always had final drive problems until our mechanic took a torch to the grousers.

Victim of hard water....one sleeve has a chunk missing from it. I'm not sure if the block is cracked or not. Kinda hard to see things in a crawler. Everything is there except the hoods. |

You will need a D-15 gas rad and gas hood panels. H-3 hood panels are a few inches shorter then the D-15.

May need the upper track support roller for the right side track.
A 149 power unit would slip into the engine bay without any mods as would a 160 gas. Check the C-Channel frame where the frame is gusseted behind the idler. Normally cracked at that point due to fatigue. Also might jack the machine and inspect the front and rear rollers as the shovel H-3 acted like rocking horse. Think dead load transfer - fore and aft with forward and reverese cycles - normally the front and rear roller take the brunt of the abuse. I would check now to insure the bushings are good in the truck rollers. Good to see the machine was equipped with the full compliment of rear weights. You will need them if you load the bucket full. I'll bet Eldon's wife bought this so he could make her a flower garden!! Good luck with the machine, once they are up to snuff they are a very nice machine. Orangeman....
