I have an hd3 that should crank with fresh fuel and a good battery but reverse quit working. The project has been sitting untouched for several years now and I can’t remember the exact problem I found causing reverse to not work. I bought a lot of hd3 machines and parts from a guy but completely lost interest in the project.
In the lot I purchased was an hd3 loader that I think is only missing the motor, radiator, etc but I have all of that sitting in the barn as well. It also included a machine with no tracks, motor, radiator, etc but the undercarriage, frame, trans, hydraulic pump, etc is all there. There is also a set of single grouser tracks that are not on a machine. I think there’s an extra set of engine covers/panels and some other random parts. Basically there’s enough parts to almost have a complete dozer and loader My question is, am I better of parting it all out, selling it all as is as a project or? I’d love to restore them but have two really young kids and I’m not ever going to have time to fool with them. Really just need the space cleared. |

I had the same thing happen to me on a case 310 crawler. bought it running and worked pretty good. bought parts machine to have cause parts are had to find. I started to restore the 310 but just lost interest in it. I wanted the space back. I knew if I tried to part things it would probably take quite awhile and still would have parts laying around. I just sold them all together. lost some money but could have lost a lot more as there was very little interest. I think I was about 15 years to late. those dozers like the h3 aren't in much demand anymore. I didn't buy mine to make money. just needed a project. bought an h4 about a week later. liked it a lot better. still have it and use it once in awhile. so I guess you just have to ask your self can you get your money back out or how much is it going to cost you to sell them all together or take a lot of time parting them out if theres any takers. if you need the space now then they will sell better al together for the right price. this is a good time to sell as people are looking for winter projects. good luck on what ever you decide.

The best of both worlds would be great if you could arrange that
I’m not even sure where to start pricing it. I’ve got everything from rippers to pumps to..... I guess if I could find someone that wanted to take it all, I’d rather do that than to deal with 20 people over a 2 year period of time. |

Yea, at this point I don’t even know what I have wrapped up in everything. I guess I need to snap pics of everything and put together a list of what’s there and try to come up with a price.
I’m not looking to hammer someone but don’t want to scrap either. Just need to come up with a fair price and hope there’s someone within driving distance that is interested. |

you need to check and see what parts are inter changeable with other allis such as maybe h4, 5 or 6. depending what condition your tracks, rollers, sprockets are in they would be the first things that probably would sell. more things that are compatible the easier they would be to sell. I am sure there are people on her that could tell you what they would fit on. if you could get one dozer running pretty good I suspect depending on condition of course you probably might get anywhere from 2500-4000. maybe. we all know the parts should be worth more than scrap iron. use craigslist. might just find some one who is looking for an h3 allis crawler. go to allis group sights and put them on there. more you advertise them better luck you my have. put some of your smaller parts on ebay. I live in the country and the rural carrier will pick them up at my house and furnish the boxes. several options for you. good luck in your quest.

H3 / H4 -(653-655) some parts interchange but beyond that it's a industrial machine not a construction machine
HD5 is a earlier machine and completely different class - parts on that machine interchange with HD6 and some parts even with HD11 like steering clutch parts . |

I'm about 8 hours from you.
What I meant was are you willing to spend time and energy to ship parts as opposed to having local pickup only. Once you sell a part or two you no longer have a machine to offer. I don't need anything at the moment but that's not to say I wouldn't stock pile. If you will ship for sure let me know. Post some pics! |

I have the means of crating heavy stuff but probably don’t have time to do a whole lot of that if I can avoid it.
