Looking for assistance please .Have an ACHD11 dozer.Hasn't started in 4 years.It was running when it was parked where it is now after a grading job.The batteries were both removed and it was properly winterized with a fully topped up diesel fuel tank with "Stable" in it.There was an occassional intermitant starter problem with it in the last few weeks it was used.The old starter with the original mechanical foot operated metal rod linkage was removed and a starter with a starter button was installed and never electrically wired up . The batteries are in storage and read a low voltage of about 6 volts each.They almost look new but the i.d. markings on them are gone.
As originally factory wired I ask the following questions :
Question : Are the 2 batteries both 6 or 12 volts ?
Question : If they are 6 volt were they wired in series to deliver 12 volts to the starter or
are they wired in parallel to deliver 6 volts to the starter ?
Question : If they are 12 volts are they wired in series to deliver 24 Volts to the starter
are they wired in parallel to deliver 12 volts to the starter ?
Question : Which direction do the batteries get placed in their respective battery
compartments ( on either side of the operaters seat in the arm rests ) ---
Right side compartment with + toward the front or rear ?
Left side compartment with + toward the front or rear ?
As you can tell --- I am not an electrician for heavy equipment.I was given this machine and know it will work and start if I get these questions answered and put the electrical back together .
Its very old and spent most of its life in a quarry but is now on my property in the mountains .
