They are not AC. While delivering today I went by a dealership that has several used tedders sitting on their lot. I have never been around a modern 1. Which ones do I want to stay away from? I did not stop and look today. I will make time to stop next week. Thank you guys.

I never liked the ones that both rake and ted. Like a New Idea uni system anything that does everything does nothing right. Most of the rotary tedders are built overseas. Many come from Italy. I have a 4 basket Vermeer that is just a yellow cheap one. Works great for me but if you have a large acreage or plenty of money get a heavier one. Tom

We use a Vermeer R2800 twin rake. It works great rolls 2 14 ft hay bine swaths into one great wind row. I haven't seen a Tedder in many years.

I have a Kuhn, built cheap in terms of weight, does a nice job. Next one will most likely be Vermeer. Stick to a name brand that parts will be available. Sometimes heavy machines are not always best— wheels/axle take a beating. Just my opinion. I also have a 255 NH rake/ Tedder that is fair/ok if you spend time adjusting it for your needs, very slow. It would be ok for small acreage and you let the hay dry before tedding.

Just repeating what someone else told me but the small ones with the offset PTO aren't as good.

Not a tedder per say, but I like my NI270 cutditioner flail mower because it doubles as a tedder if hay gets rained on.
Love watching this Krone Tedder commercial. Although I don’t own one, it looks to do the job. It folds nicely & running gear look stout. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xYuD_LEBaFs |

I was told a few minutes ago I have to make a delievery on Saturday. I will be going right by the dealership. If the gate is open I will stop and look. Are these things hard on alfafa hay?

I am in a high moisture area. Tedding is needed and I still make high quality hay without preserver. If you ted, it will need directly after mowing with a basket Tedder. This will add to loss of color as well by spreading it out. I try not to use a basket Tedder on alfalfa! My favorite Tedder for alfalfa is the old style 710 Pequea drum Tedder if I only do 10 acres at a time. I can mow tight windrows and kick it up 1 row at a time in a light setting to control leaf loss before all dew is off. My biggest Assistant for high quality pure alfalfa has been “Circle C” rolls in the mower. The stems will dry before the leaves without leaf damage.

We purchased an Enorossi Vortex G4V-570 PTH a few years ago and really like it. Well built and does a great job.

![]() As you can see it spreads the hay out really well. Curing time has been reduced a lot. Not sure why the dang photos are sideways Edited by AC720Man - 12 May 2020 at 7:48am |
