Just got back home from Mom and Dad's. Dad and I put in a 12 hour day to get the corn all out. Forecast called for flurries starting this afternoon and for 7-11 inches of snow in the next few days with possiable 40 MPH winds. Everything started in the 15 degree cold this morning and we got going around 10:00 a.m. We got a few hours of combining in before the flurries started, by the time we were getting close to finishing up it was hard to get out of the fields with the wagons spinning out on frozen ground and such. Here's a few photo's of our cold snowy day....

Know you were tired and maybe a bit chilled by the time the day was over. Glad you got it done before the heavy snow hit. It can be a bear trying to get corn out of a field full of snow drifts. Thanks for posting. God Bless.

I shelled off head lands and cut corn field in half yesterday so I can pick it. They said snow flurrys for Wednesday and have a dusting now that they never said we would get. I knew something was up yesterday when my ear started hurting.

Yep, I'm stiff and sore today. Something's gonna happen. Friend of mine in Leavenworth KS says they got ice down there. Don't know which is worse. Ice or Blizzard?

Thanks for posting the great pictures. Good to see that (almost all) orange and silver at work. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit, 14 for a high today and tomorrow. The corn should be dry enough to run by now.

We are still seeing headlights in the fields here, rain is ever sneaking in with some fields left to abandon due to too soft.

Awesome pictures! I'd sure be happy for those cabs on the tractors in weather like that! What kind of ground speed can you make with that 4 row cornhead? That R42 is a LOT more combine behind a head that size than an F2. Mike

Thanks for the comments guys, we are located in Northeast Nebraska Eric, its a 436 corn head and it's about all the R-42 can handle. The R-42 is a good bean machine, but in the corn there just isn't enough room and time for the corn to seperate out of the trash ending up in some rotor loss.

Great pics! Could you imagine being out there with a WC w/picker and a flare wagon...not all progress is bad! I helped my brother in southern SD get his corn and beans out a month ago already.....kinda nice to ride around in a heated cab tractor, push buttons to shift gears, stadium lights to brighten up the night, and talk on cell phones to communicate.

I agree, the Magnums were decent tractors. My buddy has a 7230 that I drive from time to time.
