    Posted: 12 Dec 2014 at 7:46am
Good Morning All:

Need some advice from the H3 HD4 or 650 Allis Crawlers Mechanics.

My factory service book, dated 1972 shows a Final Drive Rear Axle Seal installer tool kit.   The kit that is illustrated in the manual shows what appears to be about a 3" x 3" pipe with a machined coupling. The manual goes on to say...  A new rear axle seal installer tool kit (Part # 1003700-0) is now available through service parts. The seal installer tool is used on the axle shaft to properly position the three thin outer lips of the seal towards the axle flange, and the heavier inner lip, facing inward.

The above is referencing a repair under the heading 650 sprockets and final drive.

I called both SLI and Minn Parr, and was unable to secure the tool as NLA.

Can someone advise on the dimensions of the tool - I  have access to a lathe and mill so could easily make one if the dimensions were available. Anyone here replace their final drive seals and if so did you make a special tool?

Any insights very much appreciated.  Thank -You!  Orangeman
