In a sort of odd way.  I work in a nuclear power station so I am around a lot of old AC motors humming along all day, the sound and feel of a steam plant, it is almost alive and you tend to begin to consider it as such listening for the cough or sputter that signals issues.

This weekend as I was walking the secondary plant the feeling of awe as to the men that could design these machines, the old AC engineers, the men from Westinghouse or GE, they were special to come up with machines with a life.

Was watching some youtube of old steam locos, they were even more alive pulsing and breathing, makes me kind of sad to know most are long gone.
