A buddy of mine raced him a few times.....he was running a nearly stock 67 Chevelle SS 396 street car and grumpy was running I think C/Gas or A/Gas at the time and got pissed because my buddy beat him 3 out of 3 times past the 60ft mark with a near stock car.....

Chevrolet R&D lost a good one there. Bummer! I chatted with the "Grump" for about an  hour or so at the 2000 Nova Nationals. Bill was a huge Nova fan and loved to talk Nova's. He wasn't grumpy talking about them. His street car was a 67 Nova SS four speed car, with special plates. What else? Grump67. He'll be missed fir' sure. His record holding 66' A/S Nova has been in the NHRA record books for years... RIP Bill Jenkins.

Boy, your right Mitch. I think the good Lord is lookin' to git' an BBC engine built. He sure picked the right crew for the job. Add them guys to Smokey Yunick, and he's got his own R&D department!  LOL!

I must of saw him race at the 75' U.S. Nationals at Indy. Then again at Summer Nationals in 76' at Englishtown. Can't remember how well he did. He was very popular. Now I have to look at old pictures.

Lost Earl Scruggs, too... 88 years old... man set the land-speed-record for 5-string rolls in '48, and it still stands today...
