A little help here please, are the govener weights the same from a WD to a WD45 ? the reason I ask is that when I put the WD engine together I put the distibtor assy from the WD45 engine in it cause I liked the cap being vert. instead of horiz. but I can't get it to respond right, it wants to run wide open or idle when you move the gas lever just a hair. Thanks.

Smokey. you will need to rebend the gov cross shaft to just fit the carb throttle shaft.
Where the shaft connects above the gen. (un hook there) do when motor is not running! Put the throttle control to full open. pull the rod that is hooked to carb to full open. ( bend gov cross shaft) you need a little boxed wench to bend the cross shaft a little twards raditator or back to make the carb shaft just fit. ( reconnect) then Put throttle control back in low start it up. Hope this helps

Thanks guys, Steve- I did notice that when I had the cap off the horz, one that IH was stamped on it inside, Interesting I thought!
Bob- I did look at the weights and they did look the same but some times things look the same but aren't.
Bill- will try that tomorrow, I knew there was something on doing that wide open and set something thing, but couldn't remember! kinda brain dead, Thanks

Don't bend the up and down rod. Shorten the rod between carb. and up and down rod by bending it down toword drain plug. Bending the up and down rod will work if you don't bend the cross shaft. If you bend the cross shaft it will bind and gov. won't good. MACK

Mack, is right I did not say on the cross shaft where to bend. The cross shaft is L shaped. Bend on the part of the shaft that is pointing up to the hood, or just below where the carb rod goes in. bending the carb rod will work too.
Have a good one BILL .c
