The stars aligned 8/1/19 resulting in the delivery of my Dad's 1966 190XT from NY to my house in KY! She has been reunited with her 2 older sisters-the WD and WD45-after being separated for 4 years. The 3 of them have been our family's dream team since the XT came to our farm around 1970. The 1949 WD has been ours since new while the 1953 WD45 has been in our family since about 1960. I just wanted to share the good news with all the awesome AC people on this site. I know we have all at least heard about if not been directly affected by family issues after the death of a family member that have resulted in the loss of a family tractor(s). I thought all you AC folks might appreciate a positive story coming out of such a situation. I had always told my Dad that it was my desire that his XT rejoin the other 2 whenever he was willing to let it go. He held onto her until his last day here on this Earth. He knew a good month ahead of time that he was dying. As a result of this time together, there were many discussions at his bedside concerning what he wanted done after he was gone. Some of these discussions included what to do with his XT. The rest of my family was either not able or not willing to hold onto the XT and were for selling it regardless of price upon Dad's passing. One of my Dad's last decrees was that if I still wanted it and was willing to take care of it, then the XT was mine after he was gone. To my family's credit, they all have honored all of my Dad's last wishes including this one without any conflict. I am forever indebted to my Dad for doing this and also grateful that all of my family respect him as much as I do. A true testament to the kind of man and Dad that he was and also to how he raised us kids. Again, just thought a positive story would be appreciated by all you folks out there.

Lionel, I'm sorry to hear of your dad's passing but I'm so happy your dad wanted you to have his tractor and that your family did as he wished. All too often that doesn't happen.

Sad to hear of your dad's passing, but glad the family was able to see his wishes through. I have enjoyed reading your articles in OAN.

I have two family tractors in my herd, I agree, you'll think of your Dad every time you walk by it or climb on board. I'm glad he wanted you to have it, and grateful that you wanted it! |

This is an old picture from years back at Dad's house in NY with my kids sitting on their Papa's tractor. I uploaded this picture to this website years ago under my account here. The tractor doesn't look much different today. Wish I could say the same for the kids. Left to right they are now 17,15, and 12. I hope to get some new pics up soon after giving her a good scrubbing.

That's cool the family worked with you on the XT. Is that an 82-S on the side of her?

Yes, it was an 82S sickle mower on the side. I removed it last month when I was in NY in anticipation of having the tractor shipped to KY. The mower went to McFadden's auction yard in Sharon Springs along with the rest of Dad's equipment that he left behind to all be sold on their September auction.

I saw that it was gone, glad to hear that she made the trip to Kentucky! I've got the CA that your dad had that Bob Scramlin bought from him. It.s in my barn , trying to get it painted. I miss your dad also! He was a wealth of knowledge. Good luck with all of them!

That little CA impressed me with how well it ran and how tough those little buggers are. I do miss it and am glad to hear that you have it. It was just a "toy" to Dad at the time he got it since our farm was already sold by then. He traded a JD silage wagon to the guy in order to save that CA. It was 1 step away from being parted out when Dad found it. Really did nothing to it either other than just run it when he got it home-it needed nothing. BTW, if you are painting it, do you already have new fenders for it??? I ask because I came across 1 of the originals that fell off of it when Dad had it. He had saved it in one of his sheds. I just dug it out last month when I was there going through stuff helping clean up for mom. It was relocated to the scrap metal pile being useless to us anymore and rotted out around the mounting holes but probably still sits there as last I knew the scrapper fella hadn't contacted mom back yet.
