This late Series III XT has was bought new by my dad. Used for 20 years as the main workhorse. "Then" it was put on the grinder-mixer and had the loader strapped on. So much for taken it easy. Worked every day until the livestock left in 05. Been used lightly since, auger, rear forklift, push brush and so on. Put the chains on for the first time in years, they were bought in the early 90 to pull the mixer in the winter.
Full tank of fuel with stabilizer, topped off all the fluids, even parked it inside the shop. Just thought I'd share a pic of the ol gal ready to go back to work. It has 20.8 x 34's and a 72" bucket (don't see to many of them). Rear end has been redone, replaced engine but the rest of the tractor is tired, steering, hyd pump, all linkages, tin and so on. But gotta get the road open around the bins to fill some Jan contracts. Take care everyone. Be careful this winter. Leon B Mo ![]() Edited by Leon B MO - 04 Jan 2025 at 6:38pm |

Uncle always said "Fill the back of the shovel and the front will take care of itself".

Good to hear from you Leon. Yes she looks ready for work . You guys may get a little more than us . I won't believe it until I see it ,,, but better safe than sorry . I started my D15 with rear blade to make sure she is ready to go. I had to move my NF D-17 out of the way . Probably the worst thing you can do to them is start them on the coldest day . At least get some fluid moving and charge the battery. Mine have it rough as they stay outside with coffee cans as the only cover. Glad you had room to bring her inside. I am sure she will start right up and be ready to go to work. Hopefully we won't get much white stuff and can stay inside.

Leon, No idea where in Mo you're located but looks like most of state is in path of a major ice & snowstorm. Be careful the next few days.
Been quite a while since my area has had major ice event. I can deal with snow but the dang ice isn't for me.

Got about 6 inches here, good and cold too. Didn't drift as bad as I thought it would. Just got driveway clear and came in to warm up. Series II D15 Didn't want to fire . Turned over fast enough but no go. Placed propane salamander aiming at block with piece of plywood on other side. Also draped and old tarp over the front and side. 1/2 hour later she started right up.

Got a little more than a few inches here. Worst was the howling drifting wind! Good to see staying busy Leon.
