 Topic: Gleaner R 40

I was looking at an auction sale bill this afternoon, and seen an R 40 Gleaner on it. Any one know much about em? I see where Lonn posted a picture of his Uncles under the Gleaner picture post. It would have a deutz engine, right? Do they have any capacity (small grains and corn, both)? What are they worth $$$? Thanks, Darrel

They do have the six cylinder dooots...lol. They have the new style cage. As far as capacity. I would say about like a M2

Neighbor bought one new trading off his F2. He had nothing good to say about the R40. He traded what he said was the worst combine he ever owned for a New R52, he absolutely loves the R52. He said the R40 almost turned him into a John Deere man. I personally went from an M2 to an N6 and never had a problem with a Gleaner with a water cooled engine. Our local salvage yard will not even buy a Deutz powered Gleaner.

We had an R50 about20 years ago traded it or a R52. The R50 has same engine as 52. 50 engine was much stronger. 40 is just lower power smaller bin then a 50. Should have no trouble running circles around a M3. My R52 will run away from our L3 in any conditions, any crop I have ever had them in.

Just bought a r40 traded up from a f2 just in the throws of using it in wheat compared to the f2 it is much better design it should be its twenty years newer than the f2 regarding the deutz time will tell not afraid of it we have 6690 air cooled not a problem
