According to the literature I have, the 1976 K and 1977 K-2 were never offered with a grain bin extension. In 1978 the K-2 was called 68 bushels std. and 96 bushels with extension, which was basically flush with the cab roof plus a front/rear flip up flap of 6 inches.

Is this a normal bin? Or considered a bin extension?
Obviously looking at upper most part of bin. Thanks cory |

Factory, yes. My literature doesn't reflect the "Corn/Soybean Special", so that's why I can't find any info. The 78 K2 numbers should be very close.

I would say yes to that.
Your Operators manual has this information in it.

1976 K - 77’K2 used smaller final drives (8 bolt drive wheels). Later 78 K2 offered a bigger 10 bolt drive wheel final drive & bin extensions.
Earlier K’s may have offered an “over the bin” loading auger from clean grain elevator? But bin extensions were not offered on K. I’d guess someone swapped extensions from later k2 to your K? Look how the bin corner by cab door is fatigued/cracked. That may hint that extension swap may not have been properly attached or operator forgot about taller extensions while backing combine into low clearance shed door /lean2 roof?? Or... unfolded unloading auger vibrations cracked bin near its mount? Edited by AC7060IL - 05 Sep 2020 at 8:11am |

A "factory extension" perhaps, but did the "K" series offer the little "wings" front and back like the "older brother" F2 series ??
