Gleaner K Hydralic Filter HELP

Can someone tell me how the Hydralic Filter is correctly placed in the cylinder?  I had my whole hydralic system tore apart, and now I cant remember how to put the new filter back in....Does the Rubber seal on filter itself go up?  or down against the plate that locks the filter into the housing?

Nevermind, I think we figured it out....looks like the previous owner put the filter in upside down which actually sucked part of the filter into the system and is what caused our problems in the first place

Below the filter is a round metal plate.  It gets the new 0-ring supplied via the Napa 1666 filter & 0-ring.  
***One important note during filter replacement - the lower locking bolt has a locknut on it.  The locknut should only be tightened enough not to back off its bolt.  That bolt should be allowed some free play after installation is complete.  I have found numerous machines where someone unknowingly tightens that locknut down hard onto the round filter housing.  In those cases, they deformed the housing enough to cause the o-ring on the plate to get cut or severed during installation.  Result; it starts leaking within days after you replace a filter.
