Ive had this combine for 5 years and has always worked great! Now last fall finishing beans and this summer wheat the whole rear end by the sieves plug up. I dont see anything wrong anywhere as this just has me baffled! I even got the fan all the way open so it has full air and it doesnt matter as what the chaffer is set either as it plugs with straw and the heads. Any of you guys got any ideas? make sure the canvas is still hanging up inside the machine, it's up near the front of the straw walkers. helps direct the air flow

Are you running at the rated RPM of the engine.Had throttle cable mounts get lose and didn't have full movement and lost 100+ rpm ,just didn't clean as good as normal.Even with built in tack in cab nice to have a hand held to make sure everything is good.

Oh heck no, I see the grain samples coming in from deeres my this old G has them beat till this year! You can also go out in the field and start cutting or green feed chopping the wheat that they put back on the ground!!

Just like the new STS combines! STS, depending on who you ask, stands for: Straight Thru Seeding Stolen Technology Systems Stuck till Sunday (I guess because they're so heavy) There's probably more....

may hafta open up the sieves just a tad more, and go buy a hand held RPM guage, fire up the combine nd hand check the RPMs on the shafts. also, hand check the fan blades (cleaner fan) some were metal and some were wood. wiggle them. I had a couple blades come loose, but looked fine when looking down in there. caught them just it time before they grenaded. and as GMGuy says, check the sheave for adjustment. usually proper settings is all that is needed, but there could be a rats/coon nest caught up in there too that's hampering the air flow! also check for rust/dirt on the lowest pan under the sieves, make sure the tailings are able to slide on back down. may hafta slip plate it.

Yes they do and plugs the whole chaffer up! Just dont know why it never bothered before. Till last fall finishing up some weedy beans. Wheat this summer same thing it went down and got weedy not a lot weeds till i finally gave up! Its not like i never had weeds in the wheat before with the combine.

ok the lowest pan it where i think it starts! I looked at my bosses M3 this morning and it has a cover the bottom pan! Mine just has holes and straw/plant material fall into and stand up straight. Could this be the issue? But it never bothered before and is there even a cover for that bottom pan on a G?

They use to have a cover to run small seeds crops. Cover usually off for corn and beans. Can be bugger to change. Corn and beans machines have it if I member right. Straight grain normally have solid bottom in them.

and the surfaces may be rough....dust, rust, try shining the metal up sum with a rag ona stick, then run it, after stuff goes thru awhile, it'll shine everything up then.

Check the RPM of things hard to listen and tell if it is a tad slow. Just 50 to 100 RPM will make big difference. So easy to do if you can find a tack to use.

It is a Corn soybean special! The holes are about the size of a pencil in it.

just a round one with the needle, they run both directions. the part you put on the shaft has a rubber tip so it doesn't slip. you just press it onto the center of any turning shaft to get the reading. I don't trust the digital ones.

Nope, should not be getting trash in that area. What hits that screen or pan goes to the clean grain elevator. Sounds like you have corn sieves. You will need to remove both sieves and clean all stems out of them and get them to close completely. When you start combining again have the top sieve at about a quarter of an inch and the bottom barely cracked open. Open slowly until you get it set. A little movement will make a lot of difference. Or you could just get correct sieves. It took time for enough stems to get hung up in sieves to reach a point to where you can no longer close them enough to keep the stems from going thru the bottom sieve. JMO

I can get it cleaned out good and close both the sieves and the chaffer. I dont think I have the wrong ones in as I got the corn ones sitting in the shed. Im just baffled! It worked till last fall and it worked good, combining corn oats wheat and soybeans on 100 acres! But I'm gonna get one of those rpm tachs and see from there. Shameless what brand do you have? A google search and there is a lot of different ones!

I don't remember the brand name, I bought it at an auto parts place, and I've seen them in farm stores since then. have had mine for 30 years. i'll see if I can find it and report back to you! it's something you don't use all the time, but sure is helpful when you have a problem. that's why I didn't want a digital, cuz of the battery issue. if you don't take them out, they will corrode the insides, and the batteries will be dead. and when you need it, you hafta look for a battery! then there's that itty bitty mother board that will expand and contract in the heat or cold and break a contact. I have digital display in my rotary combine, and watching it while it's running, it keeps changing! even when what ever you are checking on isn't working! and it was like that in all 3 of my rotary combines! that's why I don't like them much!

also I do remember running wheat with my "G" combine. I didn't have the wheat sieves, just corn and bean. and just playing with it was able to combine all three with the corn sieves. they ARE a bugger to change by yourself! and even with 2 people! only thing I had to change was the springs under the floating cutter bar between beans and wheat.
