Well Im up and running with the F2. I have alot of rocks that didn't get picked or rolled into the ground this year. Im paying for it now, The rock door is doing its job and popping open. Just wondering the proper way to close it? I used a clamp to hold it up, Then used a second clamp to clamp the spring back shut again. Im sure there is an easier way to do it.
I cant move the lever enough to stretch the spring into the closed position to hold the door shut without a clamp. The first time I wasnt paying attention and The door swung down and hit me right in the head. Just wondering how im suppose to close this stupid door.

There should be a tool for locking the trap door located on the clean grain elevator right behind the ladder. If not you should get one. Works pretty good

Put the loop around the "peg" and the bar on the front for closing and the back for opening.Get the bar in position and get your foot on it and kick it open. You eat the least dirt that way.Pull it closed with you hand. If it doesn't have the chain on the latch, don't have your hand/fingers where the door can swing and WHACK em.Split a finger wide open doing that.Ain't been the same since.

that lever should "snap" into position when you pull on it to hold the door shut. don't alter it any, Gleaners were the only combines that had a rock door that worked properly! you may hafta cut a little higher this year to get around tripping the door open if you have that many rocks!

Yeah I probably will cut a little higher tomorrow. I have popped the door open 3 time in 2 acres. Im using the floating header but manually controlling it. My head hurts after that door flew down and hit me.

Lay on your back, close the door with your feet and while holding up the door, use the "rock door wrench" to re-latch the trip lock.

if your not quite as strong as most...you can also use a little longer pipe on the lever. don't use a wrench....you think your head hurts!

sometimes running a "slug" of material will open that door too. unit I started trusting it (the door to stay shut) every now and then i'd stop, lift the head a bit and back up, you'll be able to see if there is a pile back a little ways from the edge of the crop. if there's no pile, it's still closed! you can also add a chain on so it don't open all the way, but if you plug it up, it's easier to have that door open all the way!

And also don't be positioned so that the lever will end up between your legs when the spring pops over center!!! LOL

On my C2 I just layed on the ground, pushed door shut with one foot and pushed the latch with the other foot, also did same on M2, I guess I was younger then but did it many times that way.

Well thanks to the help here, I used the door tool that comes with the machine. No problems now other than I had to spray some wd-40 on the door to loosen it up a bit. I read in the manual about the door tool but didn't realize it was that bar on the clean grain auger. I ran a 3-4 inch root into the machine today, it popped the door open and With the tool it was easy to snap the spring back over center. Not Sure If i Would want to do that is I was 70 years old though.

Ours has a flashing red light on the console to let you know if the door has popped open.

Was talking to my cousin in NE Ohio today. He told me he wasn't doing a big custom job he had done in past years. Said the landowner bought a combine, I assume a JD, and his daughter thinks she is a combine operator. Landowner told my cousin he filled a 5 gallon bucket with rocks from inside the rock collector, guess it doesn't open like a Gleaner. We were speculating on how many rocks the thing held before the combine became a rock crusher.

when that concrete chunk went into my IH rotary, I wished I was using a Gleaner then! I don't know how big it started out being when it went in....but it destroyed the whole inside of the combine front to back! ya'll should have heard that noise! whew!

The rock traps on rotaries have to be emptied regularly depending on you "rock" conditions.Yes they will become ineffective when full.

Yes mine has the warning light on it to let you know the door is open. I was scared that root would cause issues but the door opened and it came out, in pieces though and it smelled like burning wood. So Far i really like this machine, Its simple I can see all the chains and parts without sheet metal covering everything like a john deere or massey.
Belt came off the reel drive though last night, So I called it quits It was about 9:00 anyways
