First off. What are you not impressed about on the R62? These are great combines and there are people that can help you improve it. The L2s are great machines too but they are getting old enough that parts are becoming an issue.

An L2/L3 is about HALF the capacity of a well tuned R62 in corn, especially on sidehills. What's the problem with the R62???????????????

Well I can guess what the problem is on the R62..... Its a air cooled engine.... In my experience a L2 runs circles around the R62 in beans... The L is good in corn but with a 10 row head your pushing it... 6 row would do better on a L.

ok, not an air cooled engine. 505 cid. no real problem other than the dang rock door, bad design i think. have ran a M for years and cut 30 acres of beans a day, with the 62 only cutting 40 a day on adverge. the combine is a lease/purchase, dont think it will justify 60k$ . looking for an L with "low" hours, a late 80's machine, 20k$ or so. this will fit the budjet and my operation better. guess the whole rotary thing is so different i just cant get used to it. as far as the six row head, my M will carry one of those.

Our F3 will cut 30-35 acres a day in beans. Read through the hypermods link. A few low hour L3s have come up, they brought 30-35k. |
