Family is starting the holidays tomorrow with a Thanksgiving  dinner at my house. We also have 4 birthdays between Nov 11 and 21  so that is taken care of too. I think last count is 18 but changes all the time. I might have leaked Confusedthis to soon and all of you will play snowbirds and come flying in.LOL

This is the second year for getting a jump start on things. My 2 married kids pushed this so they can be with the other family on the real day. Hopefully a little safer travel as there in laws are closer than we are not that we are far as 45 mins to one and just more than a hour to the other.

Any of the rest of you do any of this not celebrating on the official day to fit around the in laws and such. Going to be about 75 tomorrow afternoon to Wink none that painful "pretty" etherLOL. Three or 4 inches of rain would be something to really be thankful for.  Help all the fires and start a new crop of stuff to burn next year or let my critters eat.LOLWe have not had any rain since April so it is time.

I think the big Christmas celebrating is scheduled for Dec 29, but that's to far out there to get he worked up yet. I will wait for the important ones here tell me what to do when.Maybe it will be raining for my Christmas present.Big smileTongue

What ever works is good, Ray.  I'm sure you will have a great time.

I'm hoping Mel and family are doing OK, it probably means he is out on his Cat again.  My heart goes out for all of you in California.  These fires are getting way out of hand.

Yeah,,Ray,,we're always faced with those schedulin issues with the grand kids "other" families durin the holidays. Hadn't ever considered alternate days but may be a good thing to look into. When the Wife was takin care of those details,,she would always get peeved that our Grandchild didn't ALWAYS  stay with us,,,and I was always the AH cause I agreed to "every other year",lol, lol. I AM the coordinator now,,,,,,Wink
Yes what ole John says bout all the heartbreak and loss for them people out there,,I figure they all got insurance but there are lots of memories that will be lost forever.
By the way,,,I plan to dig up ole Hubert's recipe for the smoked Turkey again this year. Last year I smoked the bird with some apricot for 5 hours just to get a nice smoke ring the day before, then finished the cook in the electric roaster on the morning of Thanksgiving. Dang,,,I was feelin bout 10 feet tall what with all the compliments,,,even the Granddaughter who considers herself an excellent chef said it was many wonderfuls,,,,Clap

I've always had that problem.....Some of the kids are around here, some aren't.  Grandchildren are an even worse problem, some with multiple grandparents.
We've worked around ALL of the holidays and sometimes I'm not so happy with the way things are, but what can I say.

Do you guys think that if they allowed logging in Calif, if the wildfires would be less?  But as we all know, most of the idiots in Calif are tree huggers, liberals and .......don't get me started....  Yes, I'm praying BIG TIME for a LOT of rain.

Well Thanksgiving dinner is behind me. All went well, all my kids  and grand-kids were here. Nice relaxing time took some pictures that will go with Christmas greeting.Had one of my sisters and part of her kids too.

This country was designed to burn. The fire by LA is low brush and a few oak trees. With people packed in those looking for solitude crawl  out in the brush in god offal steep country. Low humidity and high wind it burns big and fast.  Some things you can do to help. Clear 100 feet around your buildings, stucco siding and tin roof all help. But if heat builds up around the house it still goes, spontaneous combustion. Starts inside the house. Just run like  hell and get out of the way.

The one up north not to sure just what kind of country, its almost 350 mile away. But high winds as well and the few pictures a lot of scrub pine trees maybe.
