Have been scouting out parts tractors and possible donors for later or to improve my old 7G as no one seems to want it besides me. Found edwins on here, pricey but close, "worked good until parked" but cannot run now, $900 to haul 130+/- miles and would still need another tractor/operator to load it. Found another in Des Moines which is another 'ran when parked' some years ago but at least it is intact inside a shed and just got the estimate, $1360 for 300+/- miles. One is looking at $7 mile the other just over $4.50. Dozer has a third in NY but could not even find a price below $4000 to get it here. I knew that prices had to rise with fuel and truck costs but WOW! Used to get lucky to see $1.00 a loaded mile when I drove.
Guess I will have to just stick to what I have until it gives up and becomes a fence row queen. |

Dave - I think I paid $4 or $4.50 a loaded mile to bring my EIII combine home from Hawk Point north of Warrenton to my farm in Pilot Grove back in 2008. That was for a drop deck low boy that made for easy loading. Also he had blanket oversize permits and all the flagging that let us keep the 10' header on the combine. I only spent $600 on the combine and almost that much to haul it home 112 miles. Unfortunate and expensive nature of the beast. But I was sure glad to have it professionally hauled all said and done. Mike
