ood morning everyone. I am going to retime my XT and my Series III book says "26*BTDC, Current Pump w/Auto Advance 24* BTDC." My question is which setting to use with my 1970 rebuilt Roosa???? Help! I've had it set to 26* but...IDK what to do as when it works it shutters and dies and it just aint right. Whats auto advance? Should I try 24*?

Timing ain't your problem. The auto-advance is an improvement Roosa-Master offered for better starting and less smoke at full throttle. It is easily distingushed if you see one with it and one without. It is located on the very bottom of the pump housing and makes the pump housing look pregnant and has an adjusting screw pointing right at you when standing alongside it.
