Trade in and buy new is tough decision.  I didn't loose anything when I traded in my LT70 but got a good price on it to begin with.  I'm looking to trade in my AGCO RT100 and so far it looks like I'll loose about $2,500 on trade with it which isn't bad.  Question is, is the new piece I buy going to depreciate down to  more than what I got?  

I don't think AGCO/MF tractors will go down in value for a year or so but after that they will drop.   Why?  Cause their loosing dealers and will loose market share.  There are A LOT of people who bought AGCO-Allis tractors because they were orange.  Those people are saying bye.

I don't think old AC's will appreciate in value.  The rare ones already have and the others are going to loose parts availability.  Your not getting new orange tractor lovers cause they'll be gone, (unless they get Kubota).  So your working with a declining customer base and declining parts.  And, besides the G, that's been replicated, what makes an old AC, (or any other brand), viable today?   The 170-175's will still hold their own even with cheap Kubotas or JD's.  But after the utility segment see  ya.

I saw a MM G1000  sell for $21,000  at a sale.    If I could get $21,000 for anything Allis Chalmers, I would be amazed. 

New Holland was able to successfully continue without destroying it's legacy.  I did some research, also.  Fiat Group did buy out Case IH.( A lot of people refer to it as a "merger" but it was a buyout)  So, in reality, they could have bought Case, and dropped all the blue tractors, and just sold red.  The bi-directional tractors were produced for Ford and later New Holland by Versatile-Beuhler. All the big 4wd 300 hp tractors were built by versatile-beuhler.  When NH bought Case, they wanted the Steiger built big tractors, so Beuhler took over Versatile and you can still buy the big Ford tractors that Versatile built in the 1990's.  However...  The original Ford FW 4wd tractors, built in the 1970's were actually  Stieger Panthers and Cougars painted blue instead of green.  So, They have come full circle, by providing the same tractors they used to provide(only with 40 years of design improvement).

So, basically, it is possible for a foreign company to buy a US company and succeed in the US.  They kept the red tractors red, and the blue tractors blue.  They didn't mess with the name (keeping the yellow and red NH machinery, yellow and red) except for the agreed upon removal of the FORD name as per the buyout agreement.  They are doing well. 

Agco hasn't been doing anything that has been an attention getter. The only ONLY thing that I give them credit for is keeping the Gleaner brand UNTOUCHED as of yet. If they messed with that, I am pretty sure I'd have to fly to Germany and punch somebody in their big fat sausage filled head.

However, I wouldn't count on an Allis Chalmers B bringing $3000 at a sale.  Prices are set by the buyers, and for as long as I have known, very very cheap people have had a fondness for orange.

I haven't seen it lately, but on the old board, there was a ton of people beating up on other people over prices.  Someone would ask a few thousand for something, and there would be 5 posts of people saying "that's too much." This probably comes from the fact that so many were produced, and so many are still around today. It's not like the WD WC or B C CA tractors are rare.  About the only tractor I have seen more of are the Farmall H and M.  and I can pick up a running useable M for $1000 right now.   So...   I just don't see it ever happening.
