Anyone ever come across an 8000 series with an agri data dash? I remember seeing one on ebay a few years ago for 600. It was brand new like it had been taken out of an 8000 and set on a shelf for years. I also remember seeing a real rough 8000 series on ebay once that still had one in it.  I have a pile of sales brochures on them. I know it was a flop. But still a neat part of history.

If I remember correctly, they only made 50 of those and AC eventually bought them all back and replaced them with a standard dashboard......too much trouble and downtime issues.

Seems like Norm Swinford talks about them in his book. I wonder what was the unreliable part, the dash or the various sensors? If a person knew what the values were for the sensors were (If that is the issue) they could probably be retrofitted with late model automotive sensors.

The sealing art/technology for the sensors hadn't progressed far enough, at that time, to make them reliable in farm environments.  There were also some EMI/RFI  issues when operating near high voltage power lines.  That was something else that wasn't well understood at that time.

It is neat to see how far ahead allis seemed to be of there competitors. I guess maybe other tractor company's were toying with this stuff but allis didn't seem afraid to try things. Its like they knew what the wave of the future was.
