Went ahead and changed oil in the wife’s car today. Got the WIX filter, all ready to go, put a little oil on the gasket, some on the threads, spin it on, as I was tightening it down(by hand of course), I noticed the a sticker on the side, and it said ‘Made In Mexico’, holy crap wtf is this all about, a WIX filter non-the-less. O well, cross WIX filters off my list.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Ever since the fiasco WIX tried to pull off years ago selling redesigned ElCheapo filters for the bypass systems of our Allis Chalmers engines, I have refused to by any WIX or NAPA filters for anything.
I prefer to get Fleetguard filters, Baldwin filters are also acceptable.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

Exactly. I’ve seen Wix and Napa filters with China printed on them.
It's the color tractor my grandpa had!

Wix was bought out by Mann + Hummel a while ago, and i've noticed a big shift overseas since then, although i assume it started long before the merger. For the tractors/combine i primarily run Agco filters since they are usually a good bit cheaper than parts stores. Seems like they are all made in the U.S., i'm curious who is making them for Agco. Seems like at one point i got a hydraulic filter that was a regular Baldwin in an Agco box.

I really need to start looking into Baldwin filters. Over the winter i was at a heavy duty parts store getting some stuff for our grain truck, and grabbed a set of Baldwin filters for the DT466. I don't think i paid over $60 total for 2 oil and 2 fuel filters. All made in the U.S.

Napa uses different suppliers now depending on what part of the country you’re in. Our region uses hfi for auto and Baldwin for hd oil and fuel. Donaldson for air
