The starter solenoid on my HD6E has an open coil. I purchased a Delco type 24 Volt 4 terminal solenoid that was supposed to fit HD6. DSCF1608.JPG
Many people on eBay do not have any idea of what they are selling. The replacement solenoid has a short stroke probably from a starter that had a bendix gear. Inside the solenoid housing there is not enough space for the piston from the original solenoid. Inside there is a bulkhead plate with a spacer that limits the space available. Does anyone know how the spacer is attached to the plate? It looks as if the plate and spacer assembly should be turned around to put the spacer on the other side to increase the space available for the piston. Unfortunately the plate is staked to the housing. Help is appreciated. Please contact George at 6cigol@gmail.com |
