Hey everyone. I have a couple questions about my 1955 CA I don't have the serial number handy but can provide if needed.

I just got a new battery box. What decals should be on it to make it accurate and original.

And I've always wondered....I have seen some came with rad shutters, some with a canvas winter front cover. What determined if your tractor had those? Different run in build date? Different year of manufacture?
My CA has a regular thermostat, so would it still have come with shutters or a winter front?

And lastly, were the steering wheels all black or should I paint the spokes orange like what is on mine now?

CAs did not have any decals on the battery box.  The hydraulic setting decal is located on the left fender.
No CAs ever came with a canvas front cover - they all had shutters regardless of the year it was built.  Yes, thermostats were still used even though they have shutters.
My steering wheel is all black.  An all original 1955 CA.

Surprisingly we still had to run our CA with the shutters partially closed even in the hot summer to keep it in the green zone. And that was while running a 6’ Woods belly mower. As said the decal is on the left fender.

Okay, thanks. So mine is correct. It has a decal on battery box but it has something to do with the battery (too tired to run out and see exactly what it says.) And my hydraulic/traction booster decal is on the left fender.

I have the hole for the shutter crank, but sadly they are gone. And as you said AC720Man, mine always runs cold too and it has a new thermostat and water pump in it.

Thanks Dseries4, I'll leave my new steering wheel all black then. The one on my tractor has orange spokes.

I saw that it should go on the left fender, but my fenders were too rust pitted.  I didn't bother to clean that up when I painted.  I did try to clean some of it up on the hood/cowling.  Instead, I put the pump decal on the right side of the (new) battery box (I think other tractors had it there).  If I had more time to pretty the tin up, I'd worry more about decal placement.  One of them was for the oil filter.  Wouldn't make much sense to put it on the oil filter since its not AC and has other writing on it, so I put it on the hood between the filter and the gas tank.  I would have liked to keep it as original as possible, but it was not to be in selective cases.

WD had the decal on the battery box. You can find shutters for sale. Post in the classified section and maybe you will get some hits. To keep a healthy engine you should get one otherwise it will build up condensation because it is not running hot enough.
