Damn! How many space heaters were they trying to use?
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

1500 watt IR heater was the load. The 'problem' is the receptacle is mounted horizontally, so every time he moves the extension cord ,the male end 'blade' opens the gap in the receptacles contacts. Over time, a real 'gap'..bzzzzz.poof. Won't trip breaker as not a 'short'
Located in old skool plaster walled cooler (part of MY old shop..), so  not a real fire hazard, luckily

My bad.

12.5a constant load.

Shock load is around 10-15% still close to max amps starting. +1.25 to 1.8a.   Added resistance from bad connection adds amps.
